2001 Toyota Tundra

Mark brought his Tundra to us so that we could adjust and tweak his expensive stereo installation from another shop. We spent some time listening to the system and making adjustments before determining that the subs and speakers just didn’t sound all that great. The subs weren’t playing much except for around 50 Hz, and the component speakers in the front doors sounded okay, but nothing special.

The other shop did a "cutout", which we don’t recommend. Since it had already been done, we worked with it to create a better sounding setup, while improving the looks and finish of the previous work. We carpeted the opening, did some paintwork to the rear seatback to improve the appearance and prevent rust. This picture shows the opening and the subwoofer box we built for 2 Image Dynamics IDMAX subwoofers. The box was treated with a waterproof sound dampening material, as well as the amp rack. This was a similar finish to the Line X coating in the bed.

This is the view with the rear armrest down. At night, neon illuminates the area around the subwoofers. This opening helps to vent the subwoofers into the interior. The box is mounted in the bed and sealed up to the "cutout" (that was already there! we didn’t do it!) From the interior, it’s all carpeted in tan. From the trunk side, it’s all coated with the waterproof sound dampening coating.

This is the finished amp rack, with removable cover in place. Four wing nuts and you have access to connections and adjustments. The ARC amps provide a total of about 2500 watts of super clean power for the IDMAX subs and Focal Utopia speakers.

Thank you Mark, for being so patient with this big project!!!
