2004 Corvette

Rachel brought her previous Corvette to us for a full system, and when she replaced it with an even newer ‘Vette, she wanted an even more elaborate, custom setup.  One of our custom guys setup a nice, budget minded setup for her, which was nice (view it here), but she decided later that she really wanted to go all out in order to be happy.  Hehe, so Rod loaned her his car and got down with her car nights and weekends with many hours spent (at the shop as well as at his home!) fabricating some custom creations in the hatch area.  After approximately 160 hours of labor and some more nice equipment, Rachel has a car that attracts lots of attention when she opens the hatch at car shows!

This is what you see with the hatch open.  There is a 15.4" monitor in the middle, two 5.8" video screens, a pair of Focal 11" Polykevlar subwoofers, 1500 watts of Arc Audio power, and a 6 disc CD changer flush mounted towards the front.  The finish is a high gloss PPG black with high solids clearcoat.  Years of grunt work in a couple different body shops in the early 80's and many projects since then prepared Rod for what amounted to countless hours of prep for a flawless finish over some fairly elaborate custom fabrication of fiberglass and wood.  Despite the relatively wild appearance, this is a true high performance sound system with plenty of clean power and a 4 way Focal Polykevlar system.

This picture shows the view from the front seats, including the CD changer and the capacitors.  Future plans may involve sandblasting the Corvette C5 logo/flags into the plexiglass panel covering the capacitors towards the rear.

Installing the Focal K3P 3 way component set in front required locating the woofer somewhere other than the doors, so pods were built on the floor, with the midrange and tweeter mounted in the factory door locations. This is one great sounding system!

This is how the footwells (passenger side shown) look at night with the blue illumination activated by a small switch.  The rear of the car also has blue LED illumination, making for a nice effect in the amplifier well.  The switch to control the neon as well as a master switch to turn off the rear monitors is located in the ashtray cubby, near one of our favorite features-the cigarette lighter knob is actually the subwoofer level control!

Here's one more shot of Rachel's car from the front in Rod's driveway.  ('much of the fabrication was done at Rod's home so he could work uninterrupted-away from the busy shop!)

(We'll take more pictures showing the rear with illumination and screens active and post them in the future.)

Thank you Rachel, for being sooooo cool *and* patient while we did the work that takes more time and patience than anything else we do!  :o)

Special thanks to Kris for reworking the Viper pager alarm to include remote start on a tough car!

In this picture, (sorry for the glare from the flash! I'm working on more exterior pics!), you can just about see the back up camera mounted in the bumper below the license plate.  When the shifter is put in reverse, the video screen in the dash shows the view behind the car.  This is very handy for vehicles with tinted windows and poor visibility!

Thank you AGAIN Rachel, for being so patient while I (Rod) took my time on a sweet labor of love.  Thank you everyone at the shop for help and helping me stay focused on this car.
