2003 Porsche 996 Turbo
Mike lives in Tennessee. He was interested in having us install "the system" into the used 996 Twin Turbo that he was buying from someone locally here, in the Sacramento area. We worked out details on equipment and the timeframe. It turned out that the seller of the car wasn't nearly as helpful as we'd hoped, and we ended up picking up some slack. After many anxious calls to the seller of the car to get the car to our shop so we could get started and have it done in time for Mike to fly in from TN and drive it back home on schedule, we finally managed to catch up with the previous owner and pickup the car at his home. Whew! Then, after finishing the car late Thursday night, we picked up Mike and his travelling companion (Road Trip!) at the Sacramento Airport.

Here is Mike's new (to him) Porsche 996 Twin Turbo. This is a lot of car, with 420 stock horsepower if I remember correctly.

Okay, let's take it apart! We had all hands on deck on this one. I (Rod) even got involved and starting working on the new double din touchscreen indash unit installation. Mike selected a nice Kenwood unit with built in GPS navigation, handsfree Bluetooth, Ipod interface and satellite radio. We upgraded speakers all around with Hertz components, our CAI subwoofer package with JL Audio 6W3 subwoofers, wrapped in factory carpet, and the Audison LRX6.9 6 channel amplifier to drive everything.

Here's what Mike's trunk looked like with the Audison amplifier and Hertz 3-way crossovers in place. Next we built a shelf/cover panel for the trunk that just drops in place over the amplifier to protect it and still allow air to circulate.

Here's that amplifier cover in place. Now Mike can put luggage and stuff in the trunk without worrying about damaging or overheating the amp.

Here's the Kenwood headunit in place, the DNX8120, their top model for 2008. We relocated the HVAC controls to the bottom position using the Porsche factory bezel, replaced the CD holder trays with a storage cubby right above that, and made our trademark custom trim bezel around the Kenwood unit.

Here's a parting shot of Mike's beautiful Turbo. His Ipod wasn't compatible with the Kenwood unit, it was an early generation unit, so I (Rod) loaned him my Ipod classic (lots of music, including my mellow 70's playlist, and everything from Air Supply to Tool!) for the long drive home, knowing that it would make the trip much better, especially if they could find music they liked on it!
Thanks Mike, enjoy that beauty!!!
