Mike's Hyundai Santa Fe

Mike was one of our first customers at the first store, we did some work on his white Dodge Dakota pickup.  Well, several years went by and Mike bought a new Santa Fe to drive around with his new job.  Mike came in and asked about options that would provide great sound in his new SUV without taking up space in the rear cargo area.

Here's a picture of Mike's Santa Fe in the shop, Charlie and Carl are "gameplanning" on the layout.  Mike ended up with an indash Kenwood double din 7" touchscreen DNX7100 with built in navigation, Ipod interface, USB and handsfree Bluetooth with XM and XM Navtraffic features.

Mike opted for a couple of Kenwood Excelon amplifiers which give great bang for the buck.  The KACX40 is a 4 channel with 70x4, the KACX10D is a monoblock delivering 600 watts total to the subwoofers.

Speaking of subwoofers, we were initially going to use shallow Kenwood Excelon subs, but they were just a bit too deep.  We then employed a pair of Earthquake shallow mount 10" subwoofers in custom fiberglass enclosures that Carl built (with some assistance from Steve), one on each side of the cargo area, wrapped in carpet.

(We've since learned that Earthquake touts a 5 year warranty-but they don't actually cover blown subwoofers-which every other manufacturer of subwoofers does.  We'll take care of Mike, of course, should either of his subs blow, but that'll cost us since Earthquake doesn't take care of us like they should.  You can bet we'll work hard to never use Earthquake products again since they don't stand behind their products like we do.)

This is the finished product, with custom grill in the cargo area on the driver side.

And one more picture of the finished product, though the headunit is hard to see.  The Focal and Hertz speakers sound great, Mike's got plenty of clean bass with a remote bass knob, and we'll stand behind everything we do and sell, (unlike Earthquake-the maker of the subs we used!)  We also used Dynamat dampening mat in all four doors to quiet down road noise and help the speakers reach their full potential.

Thanks again Mike, and good work Carl, Steve, and Charlie!!!
