Audi A8
JR brought his Super Duty Ford pickup to us for some upgrades already (and that truck rocks, by the way, with Bluetooth, Ipod, navigation and lots of clean power from quality amps and speakers). He wanted us initially to upgrade just the subwoofer, but then it sort of evolved into putting some really nice gear in for the ultimate in sound quality. When we finished, we ended up with a showcar that debuted at a big deal in Monterey June 2008 and impressed at least a few people.

This car has all aluminum construction. The floor, the body panels, all aluminum. The A8 is one super sporty luxury car.

This is what the rear of the Audi looks like while we install hidden radar sensors and route wire properly for the future amp layout.

Here's the center of the dash, with a panel concealing the motorized factory LCD screen/display.

Here is the factory LCD screen in the "open" position, but the video-what's this? We interrupted the video feeding this indash display and all audio and navigation functions are handled by a separate, offboard master brain unit with handsfree bluetooth, Ipod (as you can see on screen), CD's and DVD's, backup camera, navigation, USB, and XM radio with Navtraffic. Yowza.

This is a whole bunch of really nice genuine high end Elettromedia gear. Audison amplifiers and Hertz speakers, featuring the Hertz Mille MLK3 3-way component speakers for the front of the car (with ribbon midrange!!!) and MLK2 high end 2-way set for the rear doors. That, with lots of clean power from VRX series amplifiers, heavy gauge wiring, Audio Control digital EQ with controller up front.

Our bro and Master Installer Steve worked hard to squeeze lots of stuff into this car. This includes a subwoofer enclosure housing a single Hertz Mille 12" sub that is secured and sealed to an opening in the rear deck of the interior. Lots of cabling, connections, audio, video and power, all through a car with extremely tight interior panels.

Our custom installer and Installation Manager Carl built these sweet kick panel pods, then he and Steve worked to wrap them and build grills. We've got air volume correct (just like the subwoofer cabinet) and these sound smoooooooth.

This is what the two lower amps look like, with crossovers, under a custom glass piece that was cut with the Audi logo. Yes, actual glass, since it resists scratching much better than acrylics.

This is the DDC, the controller for the Audio Control EQ, in the driver's armrest.

One last shot of the blue illumination edgelighting the glass and logo. JR was super patient and super cool throughout a lengthy installation process. We increased power and added more cooling fans before we were done so that JR's, er, power requirements, could be met with power to spare. JR likes to rock, and we're happy to help.
