2006 Corvette

James brought his C6 Corvette to us with a very specific idea for a custom sound system with a pair of subwoofers, amplifiers, and Kenwood double din headunit.  James drove his 'Vette all the way to our shop from the SF Bay Area to drop it off!

This is how James' Vette looked when we started.  We wrapped the entire rear of the car with a protective plastic film, then added fender covers all the way around and across the door sills, all to protect the paint while we got busy.

Here's how the headunit looks in the dash.  The Kenwood DNX8120 has built in handsfree Bluetooth telephone interface, Garmin based navigation, Ipod interface, and of course AM/FM/CD/DVD capability.  Oh, and USB input for jump drives or change the background!

This is what James wanted.  We built up the floor in the rear cargo area, with a pair of JL Audio amplifiers beneath it.  A 300/2 amp drives the front door speakers, Dynaudio 6.5" 2-way components, the headunit drives Hertz Hi Energy 5.25" coaxials in the rear side locations, and a 500/1 amp drives the JL Audio 8W3 subwoofers in custom fiberglass enclosures in each rear corner.  The subwoofer grills were sourced according to James' desire for appearance, and per his request we covered each amplifier location with steel mesh.  All four of these pieces were painted to match the exterior of his car, with a high gloss clearcoat for durability and shine-equal to the beautiful burnt orange metallic paint on the outside of this ride.  This pair of 8" subs, mids, highs, headunit and amps make for one mighty impressive sounding system.  Since the subs are loaded into the rear corners of the hatch area and in optimum enclosure volumes the bass is dynamic, rich, and more impressive than 8" subs typically are.

Removable top storage was retained, per James' request.  The carpet we used to wrap the various panels was a pretty close match to the factory stuff, with high grade oem wear and tear resistance too!

Here's a picture (albeit grainy-sorry!) of James' sweet ride sitting in the bay when it was finished.  We were fortunate enough to watch James' reaction when he opened the hatch and saw the finished product for the first time.  Yowza!

Thank you James for the business and your patience while we worked on your sweet pride and joy.  Good job Charles on the custom stuff, thank you Tony, Carl and Steve for the great work and assistance on this baby.
