2003 Porsche GT3 (996)
So Donn emailed then called about his GT3 that had a very poor quality sound system, and no door speaker locations (non-hifi) because Porsche wanted to make his car lighter. He was okay with light, but wanted to hear something decent in terms of music. Now, Donn is in Arizona, we're in the Sacramento area of California. No problemo, Donn wants us to work on his car, at his home.

This was a sight to behold. This baby was mine, all mine, at least for the day. Donn was at work, I'd already shipped out the product to install, so now it's time for me (Rod) to get down. I packed my tools, as I always do, and luckily everything survived baggage handling!

This really isn't much weight, and it's super-effective at knocking down the majority of engine and road noise coming through what really is the "firewall" of these cars, over the engine. This benefits all 996 coupes. If we're running subwoofer speaker wire, maybe even doing a backup camera or rear radar sensor vis a vis K40 style, we're in there anyway...'might as well reduce noise and heat in the interior...

So here's what Donn's trunk looked like. There's the Audison 5 channel amplifier and a Kenwood CD changer. The changer is pretty much extinct now, but this installation was in 2005 or so. Now we have the Ipod...

Here's another shot of this beauty. This is indeed a factory race car. We installed lightweight components and a subwoofer enclosure that's relatively light with light subwoofers and this car sounded good!!!! Thank you Donn! (Notice the Cayenne Turbo in the background, with some performance mods!)
