2002 Ruf Turbo R

Jay called us a year ago when he was planning the audio and navigation system for the car that Ruf was building for him in Germany. This car is similar to a Porsche 996 Twin Turbo, but in cabriolet form, with many performance modifications. This car has Ruf brakes, Ruf seats, Ruf steering wheel, remote tire pressure and temperature monitor, and fairly unique bodywork including the front lower air dam, rear engine lid and spoiler, and rocker panels. The exhaust also has a very healthy sound to it!

Jay opted for a Pioneer setup with 7" motorized widescreen, DVD player, and DVD based Pioneer Navigation units, all in the dash.

The Pioneer master A/V unit, Focal 3 way crossovers, and ARC Audio 5 channel amplifier all fit in the trunk, and there is a panel that fits flush around the amplifier.  Once again, holes in the car were minimized, and Jay chose function over form with some exposed connections versus more flush trim panels.  (He did change his mind later on the amp and elect for the above basic trim panel versus the earlier shelf that covered the amp and allowed for more rugged storage in the trunk.)

Update, 3/10/03;  Jay brought his car back for the subwoofer addition and door panel modification/speaker mount.  (He had to get the car to the Silver State Classic in Nevada last time!)

A pair of Image Dynamics IDQ10's, each in a fiberglass enclosure with 3/4" MDF baffle, recessed, wrapped in factory Metropol Blue carpeting.  These can be removed easily and quickly unplugged for track events.

What a great car!

Thank you Jay!
